Follow along to meet our ranch crew and see what we are up to.

Work isn’t canceled when it snows here at Cerulean Skies Ranch, but it does mean we roll out the hay buffet. We are feeding hay down the hill from their water location to spread any animal impact and manure distribution throughout the landscape. #ceruleanskiesranch #pagosasprings #regenerativeranching #highlandcow
Meet our newest ranch guardian: Kringle. Standing at approximately “why is this taller than a grown man?” feet, he now oversees Cerulean Skies Ranch with unwavering metal confidence.
Kevin posed bravely for this photo, though negotiations regarding pecking order are ongoing. Early reports suggest the rooster has already claimed head of security, head of morale, and possibly Kevin’s parking spot.
Fun Fact: Roosters are natural flock protectors, often serving as lookouts and alerting hens to predators. This one may be decorative, but we’re pretty sure he’d still judge intruders from 200 yards away.
Follow along to meet the rest of our ranch crew — living, woolly, feathered, or forged in steel — each with a name, a story, and at least one questionable life choice.

Meet Pretty Mesa, also known as Ewepak Shakur — our Navajo Churro legend in the making. She is the granddaughter of a ewe that @cindydverg rescued from the Black Mesa area, within the Navajo nation. She arrived at Cerulean Skies Ranch with strong roots and undeniable presence. This picture was taken in a holding area as she bonded with the resident lambs. No Biggie.
Due in May, she’ll be the first of our managed livestock to give birth here. You could say she’s about to drop the most anticipated debut of the season. As we grow our Churro flock to 200 sheep, her lamb(s) will be chapter one. All eyes on Ewepak.
Fun Fact: Navajo Churro sheep are a hardy heritage breed known for thriving in rugged climates and producing beautiful, multi-coated wool. In regenerative grazing systems like ours, they help build soil health and cycle nutrients across the pasture.

Meet Meryl Sheep, Lady Baa-Baa, and Baa-Bara Streisand, our brand new Navajo Churro trio. Each one insists she is the lead vocalist, and honestly, we are not brave enough to pick favorites. If Fleetwood Mac ever needed backup singers with four stomachs, these girls would be ready.
They arrived from @cindydverg , an incredible breeder who clearly whispered only the finest compliments into their wool. Around the ranch they already strut with the confidence of animals who know they come from good stock. Their daily hobbies include synchronized nibbling, sprinting for absolutely no reason, and attempting to “help” the chickens with chores.
Fun Fact: Navajo Churro sheep are the oldest domesticated breed in North America. After their Iberian ancestors were brought to the Southwest by Spanish settlers, they later became central to the lives and traditions of the Navajo. It was the wool of the Navajo-Churro that fueled their weaving tradition. They are well adapted to our climate here in Pagosa Springs and are perfect partners for our Highland cattle in a multi species rotational grazing system because they prefer different forage and carry different parasites, which helps build healthier soil and healthier herds.

Meet Hop Solo, our Flemish Giant rabbit with the swagger of a space smuggler and the appetite to match. At just 12 pounds, he’s technically still a rookie — but already large enough to make visitors ask if we’re raising kangaroos now.
Hop spends his days cruising the pasture in his rabbit tractor, fertilizing as he goes, and giving us that classic Solo “I’ve got a bad feeling about this” look whenever the hay runs low.
Fun Fact: Flemish Giants can grow to over 20 pounds and were originally bred for meat and fur — but here at the ranch, Hop’s biggest mission is keeping the grass healthy.
Follow along to meet the rest of our ranch crew — each with a name, a story, and a regenerative tole to play.

Meet Margaret Hatcher, our Blue Laced Golden Wyandotte with the charisma of a Broadway star and the thriftiness of a politician balancing the budget. She’s the one rallying the rest of the hens to forage instead of waiting for handouts.
Margaret also heads up the ranch’s Fertilization & Sanitation Department. The chickens rotate behind the cattle, feasting on fly larvae, scattering manure like party favors, and helping keep parasites in check. It’s less glamorous than Parliament, but far more effective.
Fun Fact: Wyandottes aren’t just gorgeous, they’re champion foragers that thrive in regenerative ranching systems — turning bugs and manure into healthier pastures.

Happy National Dog Day from our two Australian cattle dogs, King O’Brien and Kennedy O’Brien. Shown here as puppies years ago. Named after Martin Luther King Jr. and Bobby Kennedy, they carry a legacy of courage and justice — though these days, their “civil rights work” mostly involves ranch patrol.
We’ve been through a lot together. From their youth in St. Petersburg to a year of RV life on the road, King and Kennedy were with us every mile before settling here at Cerulean Skies Ranch in Pagosa Springs.
Kennedy has appointed himself guardian of the ditch, making sure the water flows where it’s supposed to. King takes a different approach: he prefers to supervise the cats, especially Mickey, with the seriousness of a security detail.
From city pups to RV co-pilots to ranch hands-in-training, it’s been amazing to watch them adapt to every chapter right alongside us.
Follow along as we introduce more of our ranch family — the dogs may think they run the place, but we’ve got cows, chickens, and more with stories of their own.

Meet Ginny Weasley. She drinks Molly’s milk like she’s trying to set a world record, then immediately gets her head stuck in the hay bucket. Call it balance.
She’s fiery, stubborn, and loyal — which is great if you’re her sister Lilly, but less great if you’re the bucket.
Follow along to meet the rest of the fold. Some are graceful. Ginny is… not.
